Learn About Joe Borelli
Joseph Borelli is a native Staten Islander who has spent 30 years residing in Huguenot. He has been Chief of Staff to Councilman Vincent Ignizio since 2007, after serving in the same capacity in the New York State Assembly from 2005. Adding to that role, he functions as the Councilman’s Budget Director, Communications Director, and Legislative Director. He holds a B.A. from Marist College and an M.A. from the College of Staten Island, where he is also an Adjunct Professor of Political Science.
Joe has been successful in coordinating the development of several Park and Rides on the Island, and helped lead successful negotiations with the Port Authority to retain the car-pool discount on their bridges. He has been a leader in securing funds to outfit nearly every classroom on the South Shore with a Smartboard, and is currently working with the Parks Dept. on the renovation and construction of several parks on Staten Island. He has been a part of the Staten Island Growth Management Task Force, the West Shore Light Rail Task Force, the Brookfield Landfill Citizens Advisory Committee, and recently helped spearhead the formation of the South Shore Local Development Corporation. Borelli was instrumental in the successful fight to eradicate PCB’s from our public school buildings, and has been a leader in the movement to reduce taxes, tolls and fees in our City. This year, he has vowed to fight against the proposed “Waste to Energy” plant coming to the former Fresh Kills Landfill.
As a volunteer, Joe serves on the Development Board of St. Joseph by the Sea High School, as well as the Friends of the College of Staten Island, which raises money for scholarships. He has guided dozens of non-profits, veterans organizations, and community groups in accessing government grants. He has formerly served on the Executive Board of the Richmond County GOP as a district leader before being appointed to the city’s Voter Assistance Advisory Committee in 2011. He has helped raise private money for equipment to help handicapped children at Mount Loretto, and is now working with the Verdino Foundation to bring a state of the art little league facility to the South Shore.

A Letter to our Neighbors
Dear Friends,
As many of you have heard, I have been reaching out to many of my neighbors throughout Staten Island to seek their support in the upcoming election for the 62nd Assembly District. Like all of you, I was saddened to learn of Assemblyman Tobacco’s decision, but I deeply respect any husband and father who puts the well being of his family above all else.
The journey to Election Day involves forthright and transparent discussion of a candidate’s background and beliefs with the voters of their district. As such, I hope this letter serves as an introduction to my candidacy and demonstrates my openness as a person.
Each day, I have the honor of working with our elected officials, community leaders, and neighbors in trying to stem the tide against those that want to compromise our way of life. For 8 years, I have served as Chief of Staff to Vincent Ignizio in both the State Assembly and City Council. I am a lifelong resident of Huguenot, having attended PS4, Our Lady Star of the Sea, and St. Joseph by the Sea High School. Through my job and personal life, I have been involved with dozens of community organizations and charitable groups on Staten Island. I have served on numerous committees, panels, task forces and boards. I believe I am the best person for the job and the strongest candidate for Staten Island.Throughout my career, I have maintained close working relationships with activists, religious leaders, elected officials and colleagues. Today, I am filled with pride at the thought that many of them will stand behind me. Their support comes from years of knowing me to be a hard worker and dedicated public servant. I am strengthened by their trust, and if elected, I will serve with the passion and dedication they expect. I can only hope to earn your trust in the same manner.
Thank you for taking the time to read this note and check out my website. I hope to personally reach out to as many people as I can over the next several months. The road to Albany begins with you, and I thank you for your support along the way.
Respectfully Yours,

Joseph BorelliP.S. Stay tuned for the full launch of my website in the next few weeks.
